Now onto the story (don’t worry no spoilers). The basic summary is that your character is actually someone from before the war who got into one of the Vaults, giant underground fallout shelters that protected some people when the bombs fell. Events transpire in the Vault and you end up leaving it over 200 years later and you must go on your journey to find your family and find out more about the mysterious ‘Institute’ that everyone is talking about.
The main story and the vibe of the game in general has a real cold war-esque fear of communism with the fact that mysterious machines known as ‘Synths’ have been supposedly replacing people leading to huge amounts of paranoia in the population. It’s a wonderful plot that runs alongside the very human plot of the main character simply trying to find his family and helps to put the story into both small and big perspectives simultaneously. The side quests are also incredible with some notable examples including the rebuilding of the minutemen and joining the Brotherhood of Steel. These also are tied in with the main plot and it would be in your best interest to experience them to understand exactly what is going on and to learn more about the world around you. I wont say any more though, all I will say is go experience the story yourself you won’t be disappointed!
That’s all for now, and as always. It’s not just a game, It’s a Life.
