So Star Wars Battlefront 2 (the newest one of course) has recently been released to those who can access the game early and to say that the backlash has been huge is an understatement. This all of course ties in to the corrupt environment of Loot Box culture that has popped up this year. When the game was in Beta people complained about how the loot boxes amde the game feel pay to win, and so the company changed this up, however the new system appears to still be pretty bad.
The biggest problem seems to come in the form of the hero units you can unlock. Through the progression system in the game you can earn credits to buy loot boxes to get heroes and other pieces of equipment, however after some dedicated players did the maths on the algorithms and average credits earned per game it came to light that to unlock a single hero unit in the game you would have to play over 40 hours in game which is absolutely absurd. The justification for this actions is even more legendary though, so much so that it’s become Reddit’s most downvoted comment in history! (I will link it at the end of this post)
It seems as though this will bog down the game greatly and who knows what the critical perspective of the game is now. I just hope this proves as an eye opener to those who still don’t believe that something is wrong with the mainstream video game industry. That’s all for now, and as always. It’s not just a game, It’s a Life.
