There’s another type of game that I wanted to discuss with you all, the Rage Game. The concept behind these types of games are that they are either incredibly broken, frustrating or the difficulty is just so extreme that it is designed to make you incredibly angry.
These types of games are meant more as endurance tests rather than actual game experiences. The game above, Cat Mario, is a rage game Romhack of the original Super Mario Bros with a great deal more cat and unfairness. I personally don’t see the point of Rage games. While it is certainly amusing to watch others play these awful games just to see how far they can go until they rage quit it has almost no value as a video game. Video Games are meant to be fun, that is perhaps one of the most obvious rules of game creation and yet these types of games set out to not only be frustrating but to actively make your day worse, which a video game should never do! So maybe I just don’t properly understand rage games, I certainly won’t play them and you can’t convince me!… maybe…
