Sega have finally let wind of their latest Sonic game and it looks to finally be a return to form for the blue blaze. Sonic Mania, set to be released next year, is an old school 2D Sonic game with an art style similar to the old Mega Drive games (Yes I know, I called it a Mega Drive, that’s what it will always be to me).
Many people have claimed that 3D Sonic games weren’t working and that Sonic needed to go back to his roots in order to succeed once more. After the disaster that was Sonic Boom I find myself agreeing with them as the attempts to reboot the entire Sonic series and bring in even more characters just made things more complicated than they needed to be. Who knows perhaps Sonic games may even stick to this old-school art style for future games, I for one would enjoy this change as I adore the new look for this game.
