It is a sad day, with a heavy heart I announce that Net Neutrality is no longer a thing in the US as of the vote today. While this may not directly relate to gaming this is still important for us gamers.
Net Neutrality, if you didn’t know, is the rules put in place that allow all websites hosted online to be treated equally and fairly with ISP’s not being able to basically pick favourites. With this now no longer in effect your Internet Provider can choose to block certain sites, make traffic to certain places faster or slower and even outright prevent you from accessing content from certain parts of the internet.
This means that certain ISP’s could very well stop you from accessing Google if they have shares in Yahoo, or other ridiculous things that will come into place. While this may not directly affect me I do feel personally ashamed at the American Government and I feel sorry for the citizens in the land of the free, I certainly hope you are all prepared to deal with the consequences.
That’s all for now, and as always. It’s not just a game, It’s a Life.
