Game Critics

Yahtzee is perhaps the person who I most consider my idol, him and Jim Sterling of course

Gaming Journalism is a bit of a weird job when you try to describe it to someone. You play a video game, dissect it, determine whether it is a good game or not and give your opinion about it to people over the internet. Critics in general have a type of stigma attached to them as people see it as just being an easy job.

The thing about being a critic that a lot of people seem to overlook is that it’s not just about giving your opinion, it’s about being able to formulate a cohesive sentence or write a compelling piece that will get people to listen to or read your work. I am obviously not a huge impact in the gaming journalism industry, hell this site is pretty much just a hobby to me right now, I do think that I put passion into my writing and I certainly hope that others can see that.

Game critics might seem like they aren’t providing much to a general conversation about games, especially if their word isn’t taken as seriously, but sometimes they can provide a new side to things, a new perspective. To me, that’s one of the main reasons why I keep going at this, just to know that one day I might help influence someone to buy a really good game or avoid a bad one. I’m not out to make the world laugh or stare in awe at my writing capabilities, I’m just a guy with a passion for games and writing who wants to help the world in whatever little way I can.

That’s all for now, and as always. It’s not just a game, It’s a Life.
