Fans come up with some of the most interesting and also the most terrible ideas for their favourite games. Some ideas can be a great addition that would add a lot to the game or would make something more aesthetically pleasing, like the beautiful Blackwatch Mercy from Overwatch concept art above. Other ideas such as buffing or nerfing things or adding things that aren’t needed however can sometimes be a recipe for disaster.
It’s important for developers to understand exactly how to take fan feedback and implement the things they want without spoiling the game. Blizzard do this quite often with Overwatch, for example they recently added a shrugging Reaper emote to the game which at the time became a popular meme within the community. This addition didn’t feel forced or crowbarred in just to appease to a meme but instead was a fun nod to the community, especially considering it was them that suggested it in the first place.
So what do you all think about fan feedback or game concepts? Do you find them to be important to the creation of a game or should we leave development up to the people who know what they are doing? Let’s debate this in the comments! That’s all for now, and as always. It’s not just a game, It’s a Life.
