Experience

Short but sweet.
Short but sweet.

This week I have been completely obsessed with Undertale, there’s no two ways about it. I’ve been listening to the soundtrack, watching playthroughs of it and theories on the various elements of the game and I’ve spouted non stop to people I know about how good the game is. This has come from a game that for me lasted 10 hours, and now I won’t be touching it again.

It really brings into perspective the idea that short games can still provide some of the best gaming experiences of your life. Now don’t get me wrong games that have huge amounts of replayability are still incredible, I can’t count the amount of hours I have played Skyrim or Fallout 4. However it shows to me that even from just a market sense as long as your game is appropriately priced (which Undertale is) it can still provide an experience that is worth so much more than other longer games that simply drag on for too long.

It reminds me a lot of Portal I suppose. You can beat Portal in a couple of hours and yet it has some of the best comedy and puzzle challenges in gaming. So what I’m trying to say through all my rambling I suppose is that the longer a game is does not equal to how good it is. Try to give some of the shorter game experiences your love, you might find a hidden gem.

That’s all for now, and as always. It’s not just a game, It’s a Life.
