Despite the massive wave of games in which the developers and publishers care more about making money than they do making an actual game I thought it would be refreshing to talk about a game that just focuses on being a game.
Cuphead, the wonderful indie game, released a few weeks ago to much praise about its gameplay, art style and soundtrack. In many ways it’s considered a breath of fresh air as nothing else is really tied to the experience and rather it just wants to be a good game, and that it is. While I haven’t played it myself (I fully intend to once it goes on sale) I can already tell that this is the type of game that I want the industry to focus on. Smart, carefully crafted experiences that simply want to entertain customers, and hey if they can become massively popular over the internet and create a cult following thus making them a tonne of money then so be it!
So what do you think about this game and the type of game it represents in the industry? Be sure to let me know! That’s all for now, and as always. It’s not just a game, It’s a Life.
