I recently felt a need to buy Super Mario Galaxy just so I could have fun with it again, however I also remembered the fact that I could also have my girlfriend play alongside me as a backseat gamer, so that should be fun!
The term backseat gaming usually refers to someone constantly telling a newer player what to do however in the context of this game I see it as someone who might not be playing the full game itself but is still helping by performing an action. In terms of Super Mario Galaxy a second player can interact by using their wii remote cursor to pick up star bits and fire them at enemies, providing a type of overwatching guardian to your travels. I love this concept as it means gamers who aren’t too comfortable can still help their partner and have fun. I look forward showing off the wonder of this game with my partner and I highly suggest that anyone else who has a partner not too much into games enjoy this one with them, you both might end up loving it.
