ARPG’s

The great grandaddy of them all...
The great grandaddy of them all…

I just realised a strange trend last night as I browsed my Steam library, during the Summer Sale I only bought ARPG’s with retro style graphics and a class based system, weird.

I suppose my obsession came from buying Hero Siege first (which I will probably do a review for next week at some point) and from there I was hooked. I even decided to try out Diablo 2 for the first time ever, something about that game sparked in my mind the idea that I could really like Diablo-style games. A good plan too, considering the main points of ARPG’s are that they are character based giving you the option to choose your class and race, assign skill points to progress your character, fight in dungeons to level up and acquire randomly generated loot to help you better fight more monsters.

As Ben Yahtzee Crowshaw says, it’s about finding trousers with better numbers to help you make it easier to find more trousers. You know what, I must be in trouser heaven then. So what is your opinion on ARPG’s? Do you like them and if you do what about them appeals to you? Let us all know! That’s all for now, and as always. It’s not just a game, It’s a Life.
