I think it’s fair to say that CD Projekt Red quite thoroughly destroyed their goodwill and positive reputation following the release of Cyberpunk 2077 and the reveal of the massive amount of backlash once it was revealed that their working conditions were poor and outright cruel at many points. It’s almost no surprise then that multiple senior members of the company have decided to cut their losses, leave, and form their own studio that focuses on the wellbeing of it’s workers first and foremost.
The new studio, known as Rebel Wolves, have been fully formed now and are focusing on the creation of new RPG games while also retaining a good amount of freedom for their worker’s creativity and not focusing on chasing trends. They have also announced that their first project will be a Dark Fantasy RPG and according the the concept art released it seems it may have a Vampire theme of some kind. Of course no other details have been released as of yet but you can be certain that with many of the team directly working on The Witcher 3 you can bet that this may very well turn out to be a great title.
It’s nice to see a company that values it’s workers as ultimately as they even stated on their own website happy workers will create great games as their creativity will be allowed to flourish and will allow them to explore more alternative and experimental processes to create a far more unique game. Let’s just hope that this does indeed work out best for them. That’s all for now, and as always. It’s not just a game, It’s a Life.
