Recently, promintent writer for the Portal series, Erik Wolpaw, has gone on record stating that he would love to make a third Portal game, however at the moment Valve’s company structure means they are unable to allocate time and resources to the creation of the third game and as such it currently remains in limbo.
This is due to the fact that Valve operates much differently from other gaming companies. Essentially those working within the company are allowed to work and develop on whatever they want as long as they have the appropriate amount of backing from other team members or are just content on making small, experimental content by themselves. This is due to the fact that Valve constantly seek to innovate and due to them being a relatively small company compared to others they don’t have the staff to work on both developing new large scale game projects and constantly keep Steam updated and maintained. As such for the moment while there are no signs for a new Portal game it really is interesting to see the insight from a former employee and what they feel people should work on in the future. Let’s see exactly what they have planned for the time being, Half Life 3 is most likely not that far off…
