This will be a bit of a niche topic so bear with me. After 3008 days a particular group of cards in the Yu-Gi-Oh Trading Card Game have finally gotten a new wave of support with a bunch of new cards revealed. The deck in question is called ‘Volcanics’ and they were used by a popular character in the second anime series that the card game ever had, GX.
Old decks getting new cards isn’t the big news though, no the big news is that a particular Yu-Gi-Oh player can now finally rest after waiting on support for this deck for all those years, Payne96. Payne is a bit of a meme in the Yu-Gi-Oh community as he personally kept track of how long the deck had gone without new cards by commenting on various vidoes, reddit threads and plenty of other forums with a counter on how long it had been Volcanics had support cards made for them. As you may imagine then the combination of this man’s determination and his growth to meme status in the community meant that these new card reveals were met with a glorious fanfare and celebration for those that know of the legend of Payne96. Now it would seem that he can finally end his work knowing that the deck is finally caught up to the modern meta. Sleep well Mr Payne, may you burn your opponents to the ground in your long sleep.
