God bless modders and all the dedication they have to the world of gaming. If you all remember back a while ago Duke Nukem Forever was one of the biggest flops in the shooter genre and gaming as a whole after the ridiculously long time it was stuck in development hell. If you also remember not that long ago the original concept and game files for the 2001 version of the game that was originally pitched and shown off in a trailer was leaked to the public allowing people to see what the game could have looked like if it wasn’t stuck in development for so long.
Well as it turns out a bunch of people liked this older version of Duke so much that they decided to take the missing elements of the game files and recreate the game from scratch and how it should have been. This project is known as the Duke Nukem Forever Restoration Project and is being hosted on ModDB. I for one will be very excited to see how the team handles all this unused content and perhaps we will even see a resurgence of Duke following the release of this. We can only wait and see I suppose. You can check out the progress on the mod at the link here.
That’s all for now, and as always. It’s not just a game, It’s a Life.
