The Creator of Yu-Gi-Oh Has Passed

Rest in peace good sir

Whilst this isn’t strictly gaming news I thought it was important to note regardless. Kazuki Takahashi, the creator of the original Yu-Gi-Oh manga and thus the creator of the card game itself, passed away on 7th July 2022. He was found after some kind of accident while he was on a lone snorkeling trip out at Onna-Son. At the moment the exact cause of death is still unknown but it is most likely that he died through drowning.

It’s an awful way to go and at age 61 he wasn’t exactly at the end of his life so seeing something like this happen to a good creative is always sad to witness. While Mr Takahashi wasn’t directly involved with the card game by the time of his death his influence is no doubt incredible important to it’s creation, it literally would not exist without him. So from myself and countless others who found this silly children’s card game and had a great time doing so we can only hope that he is now at peace and knows that he made the world a slightly better place.

That’s all for now, and as always. It’s not just a game, It’s a Life.
