Stalker and NFT’s

And yet again the subject is brought up…

It’s really funny at times to see the silly subject of NFT’s come up and trying to insert themelves into video games only to end up with massive backlash and ultimately end up hurting the project more than helping it.

Enter GSC Game World, developers of Stalker 2, who last week announced that they would be releasing “The first metahumans in the Stalker universe” which were essentially allowing people to buy their way into becoming a random NPC in the game, essentially saying they were selling an NFT opportunity without using the term NFT. Hilariously as you might imagine this backfired horrendously causing massive amounts of pre-order cancellations and outright condemnation surrounding the practice.

Luckily this story actually has a happy ending as recently the team decided to come out and state thatg the proposed ‘auctions’ have been cancelled and will no longer be taking place. Thank god for that as it would otherwise be a massive dissapointment on an overall solid looking game. Let’s hope more game companies see this as a good example as to why you shouldn’t mix games with NFT’s, though I wouldn’t hold my breath.

That’s all for now, and as always. It’s not just a game, It’s a Life.
