I don’t tend to talk about Anime that much as I’m personally not a big fan of the genre. I however understand the overlap between both it and the gaming spectrum so it’s still an important thing to cover from time to time. This is especially true now that one of the most well known JRPG’s, Nier: Automata, is getting it’s own Anime!
This was announced with a teaser trailer and while it doesn’t reveal much it can be gathered that this will cover the same story as the games following the humanoid android 2B and her adventures to discover what it means to truly feel alive. Something that myself and a lot of other people are curious about however is that the game’s themes and story almost entirely revolved around it specifically being a video game as the biggest narrative themes of control and free will are very central to the plot so adapting this for a medium in which those don’t translate over as well is an odd choice. I guess we will just have to see if they end up messing this one up, hopefully not. There wasn’t a date revealed for the show but be sure to keep an eye out if you’re interested!
