It’s a shame when companies decide to make massive decisions that affect hundreds of people. It’s even worse still when the decision is purely driven by corporate greed and being justified by sticking to an unsustainable economic system. This is the unfortunate state of Activision Blizzard who have confirmed that over 800 employees within the US will be made redundant.
The company states that this is due to them wanting to shift their focus onto development and important sectors of the company and essentially trimming employees they feel are not as essential or important to them. This news hurts personally for me as I’m going through a similar situation (though of course on a much smaller scale) and thus understand the pain that I’m sure a lot of these employees are currently feeling. I just hope they will find new work soon as there is a lot of talented people working at this company. Let’s just hope that the higher ups making the executive decisions come to realise the error of their ways, though I have my doubts.
That’s all for now, and as always. It’s not just a game, It’s a Life.
