So I have a bit of a weird news story for you all today. The Master Chief Collection, 343’s big Halo game collection for the Xbox One has been getting small amounts of support over the past few years but a brand new development from the team who created it may just provide it with a brand new lease of life.
In one of their recent developer updates to the community on their Halo Waypoint hub the team mentioned that one of their members had been fiddling with a fun side project which involved porting a map from the PC exclusive Halo: Custom Edition to the console version of the Halo Combat Evolved section of the Master Chief Collection. Funnily enough the port worked and while it was still rough around the edges it could become playable with a bit more work.
Custom Edition to those that don’t know was the fan made version of the original PC version of the first Halo that featured massive amounts of custom made maps, weapons, vehicles, gameplay mechanics etc. You name it and someone probably made a mod for it on Custom Edition which means this news is extremely exciting to those who never got to play all of the wonderful user created maps for that game. Funnily enough it still has a fairly active modding community and having some of their maps being ported to the Master Chief Collection is sure to bring some much needed life to their game. I look forward to seeing how this develops and if they do decide to bridge the gap between PC and Console modded map makers. This could be the beginnings of a bright future.
That’s all for now, and as always. It’s not just a game, It’s a Life.
