I often think to myself that games need to take themselves a little bit less seriously in order to provide an adequate amount of charm and character to help them stand out amongst the tide of generic offerings the triple AAA sector has to offer and this is even more the case with shooters. Lucky for me then the new Far Cry game got some gameplay shown last week and it certainly is diving into the wacky side of things.
We not only got to see some interesting new additions to our adventures in the country of Yara such as horse riding but we also got to see plenty of new weapons added which range from standard to ridiculous. We got CD disc launchers, ring-of-fire jetpacks and even backpack missile launchers. These all lean into the silly video game aspects that I adore and so this makes the game far more interesting to me than it previously was. Let’s just hope it also shakes up the formula enough to feel different and is not just another silly Far Cry game.
