Fallout 2.5D?

Who even needs New Vegas?

Fallout 1 and 2 have always been odd games to get into if you grew up with the modern Bethesda era of the series due to them focusing on being more immersive sims than RPG Shooters, especially so with their isometric viewpoints. Now however a fan-made mod project seeks to make the transition a little bit easier with the introduction of the Fallout 2 3D Remake.

Mod developer, Jonasz Osmenda, states that he intends for the whole game to be playable in 3D and uses the original graphics of Fallout 2, including all the iconic sprites, to create a blend between the old and modern games. It plays a lot like the older Elder Scrolls games like Arena or Daggerfall but with the obvious inclusion of Guns and the V.A.T.S system. It’s an interesting change of pace and the different perspective really works to demonstrate the scale of the game that you’re playing in.

At the moment the game is still in development but a demo containing the first few areas of the game has been released and you can check it out right here. I must say this is a very cool project and I hope that it gets finished as this may end up being a more tolerable way for those more used to modern Fallout games to check out the originals and experience their great story.

That’s all for now, and as always. It’s not just a game, It’s a Life.
