Emulation Woes

See ya later Loveroms, we knew thee well

When it comes to talking about emulation it really is a tricky thing to balance as by all accounts using and uploading ROM’s and ISO’s for people to play is technically illegal. It seems Nintendo has finally caught onto this notion too as recently they filed two seperate lawsuits again a couple of popular ROM sites, LoveRetro and LoveRoms, which has led to LoveRetro removing all Nintendo games and LoveRoms has been shut down completely.

It’s a shame as these sites provided hours upon hours of entertainment for those who wanted to play some classic retro games. It’s clear that Nintendo want to focus upon their Eshop and online pass system for the Switch which will mean they are selling old ROM’s for a price that many generally don’t consider worth it. I am an advocate of emulations as they allow old games that don’t make money anymore to stay alive and can introduce newer generations to some of the best games ever made. This marks a bold precidence for Nintendo and I wonder what will happen with other sites like this on the internet.

That’s all for now, and as always. It’s not just a game, It’s a Life.
