Cutting the Head of the Unified Snake

Talk about metaphors…

With the recent controversy stemming from the pricing changes made by Unity on their game engine it’s no wonder that heads have started to role within the company, the first and main one being their now former CEO, John Riccitiello.

Now John was no stranger to controversy, after all he previously worked as the CEO for EA, which is a pretty big sign that you won’t be liked very much by the general gaming population. However it seems as though this most recent decision, and most of the anti-consumer decisions made by Unity in recent times, were due to John’s influence and as such having him ‘Retire’ was a smart move by the company. The person taking over the company, James M. Whitehurst, is a bit of an unknown factor at the moment so it remains to be seen if more pro-developer practices will start to come into effect, but I suppose we will see what the future holds for this troubled company.

That’s all for now, and as always. It’s not just a game, It’s a Life.
