Bubsy is… (sigh) Back…

But where are his trousers?

Bubsy (if you somehow aren’t familiar) is an old mascot platformer character from the 90’s who had several games to his name almost all of which never really catapulted his name into stardom, well unless you count being part of one of the worst video games ever made.

In recent years Bubsy has been hanging on with a series of ok 2D platformers similar to his original slate of games but now it seems Bubsy truly is back, in all his (unfortunate) quippy glory. Bubsy 4D, yes they’re calling it that, is set to come out later this week on 22nd May and will feature a full 3D platformer rebrand with spindash controls similar to those marble games, wall jumping, boss fights and all that jazz. As you can probably imagine it’s styling itself after the trainwreck that was Bubsy 3D but from all the gameplay I’ve seen of it currently it at least looks more competent than that. There’s even an option to turn off his voice, huzzah! (though he’ll still try to get in a few quips before you’re able to do so). Either way, it seems decent enough, and there’s even a demo out, so if you’re interested in seeing if Bubsy really can make one definitively good game then check out its Steam page right here.

That’s all for now, and as always. It’s not just a game, It’s a Life.
