The Excitement of Trailers

Sold out stadium, those were the days

As I watched over many of the big announcements from this year’s Summer Game Fest and was introduced to an incredible amount of new games and trailers I realised something, I’m not as invested as I used to be.

Now don’t get me wrong, I still love game announcements and big events like E3 help to provide a good amount of entertainment for a time however many of the games being shown I just had little to no interest in. Perhaps it’s in my cynical older age that I come to find the same types of games or announcements not as compelling or perhaps after hearing so much about the abuse that the industry commits against it’s workers I find myself feel suspicion more than excitement when I see a big new game announced. Regardless either way I found that only a few actual games being announced really caught my eye and made me excited.

One of the only presentation-type events that still manages to get me truly giddy is usually Nintendo’s Directs as they know exactly how to make a reveal exciting and unexpected which is why I’m still looking forward to when the next one of those is revealed to us. Still maybe when bigger events start popping up again I’ll return to that magical and childlike sense of wonder and enjoyment at all the new games, I can only hope.

What games have you most excited and do you feel the same way I do nowadays about game announcements? if so feel free to comment below and share your thoughts with us. That’s all for now, and as always. It’s not just a game, It’s a Life.
