Straining System

Such a useful tool… you should get this by the way

It’s very rare that my system is unable to handle a game, even rarer that the game in question is not a problem framerate or graphical-wise, but is actually being constrained by temperature of all things.

As I booted up and played The Thaumaturge on a particularly warm day I was enjoying my time summoning undead and speaking in Polish, until suddenly my entire system shut down. I booted it back up and used OpenHardwareMonitor to check my system. Lo and behold, my system was reaching into the past 100 degree mark when playing this game! I had to resort to jank solutions by quite literally opening up the side of the system and using a table fan to keep the system cool. Moral of the story, make sure you have adequate cooling systems, and make sure your games are optimised for this stuff.

Have any of you experienced something like this before? Share your experiences in the comments! That’s all for now, and as always. It’s not just a game, It’s a Life.
