I finally decided to give in and try out the original Starcraft after feeling as though it was time for a new strategy game to take the stage in my life. My favourite RTS of all time is Supreme Commander: Forged Alliance which to many people is one of the biggest-scale RTS games ever made. This is in huge contrast to Starcraft that focuses more on small scale/fast paced engagements where micromanaging is more important than grand strategy.
It’s an interesting dynamic as one of these gameplay styles is certainly more exciting to watch and gets high octane very quickly. However a more long term boil type of RTS will produce larger and more impressive battles and give a greater sense of accomplishment once you finally struggle and defeat your enemy by sending your computer-melting army at them. I was interested to know what you all find to be your favourite type of RTS? Do you prefer more long-term gameplay like Supreme Commander or the fast paced Starcraft style? Be sure to let me know in the comments!
That’s all for now, and as always. It’s not just a game, It’s a Life.
