The Purge

So long, don’t let the door hit you on the way out

Steam recently made a huge removal of games on its platform, approximately 173 games have been removed and funnily enough they all stem from a single developer, Silicon Echo Studios.

This game development studio isn’t your typical game development company however, they focus upon a practice known as asset flipping. Essentially they pre-buy game assets such as models, music etc and directly put them in their games without editing them whatsoever. They even go so far as to release ‘demo’ games as full releases in hopes of making quick money.

While many of their games don’t cost much, the real money is made in the sale of steam trading cards. These virtual cards are gained whenever you get achievements in games and can be sold on a marketplace for dirt cheap prices. However if many people buy these games, and sell the cards in bulk the develoeprs get a cut of the profits making it extremely lucrative if you spam the store. Due to these practices the developer has been removed from the store and won’t be able to make any more games, good riddance.

That’s all for now, and as always. It’s not just a game, It’s a Life.
