I was caught off guard a few days ago when I reminded myself that Shovel Knight exists and I hadn’t checked up on the release date of Spectre of Torment, the latest piece of DLC for the game. Sure enough it had already been released, much to my happiness, and I got straight to work playing it.
I’m finished it now and I have to say wow, I was having so much fun that the game flew by so quickly! It took me about a day and a half to finish the main campaign once (which by no means is completing the DLC!) and I had a fantastic time. It shows that even despite Yacht Club Game’s dedication to providing a light hearted set of characters and world they can still provide a sad but touching story that helps to bring to light the motivations of one of the more mysterious knights in the game.
I personally had a great time with the game and with a greater emphasis on speed and agility it provided a faster paced platformer than I was used to, which in turn made it some of the most fun gameplay I have had with this game thus far. So if you already own Shovel Knight then go try it out! You’ll have a… ghost… of a time! (I am so sorry)
That’s all for now, and as always. It’s not just a game, It’s a Life.
