Olympic Representation

Well that’s certainly a way to make an entrance

I only recently discovered the news of the ending of the Rio olympic games and why the closing ceremony is actually of interest to myself. Turns out that the president of Japan actually made an entrance to announce the 2020 olympic games in Tokyo via a Mario warp pipe… what…

It’s certainly an interesting way to announce your olympic games however it brings up an interesting point. Japan is of course generally considered the grandad nation of gaming and so it’s most likely that games will be very much represented during that Olympics. However what I’m more interested in is the idea that E-sports may become an olympic event for Tokyo.

While it may sound absurd to some people they may need to consider the fact that E-sports is fast becoming one of the most popular sports in the world and having an olympic representation of the genre would very likely skyrocket the popularity of E-sports and improve what the general public may think of gaming.

What do you all think of this idea? Do you think this is likely and if it is do you think it’s a good idea? Be sure to let me know in the comments! That’s all for now, and as always. It’s not just a game, It’s a Life.
