Infotainment Games

After learning so many interesting tank facts from Panzermadels (who knew a dating simulator could be so interesting!?) I had a thought about the very idea of educational games, also known as Infotainment games. I wondered about the kinds that have been made and if they really provide both entertainment and education to people.

Probably the most well know Infotainment game was The Oregon Trail with a mix of fun gameplay and interesting American history thrown in that it made the playing experience not unbearable, unlike so many educational games that seem to exist. It seems to me that an educational game can only truly succeed if it does not focus solely on education and instead tries to teach people by making facts within games available, rather than just shoving facts into our faces.

However I am interested to hear what you all have to say. What would you consider to make a good Educational game? Be sure to share your opinions! That’s all for now, and as always. It’s not just a game, It’s a Life.
