Star Wars Battlefront 2 seemingly is doing whatever it can to make a monumental twit of itself. This next wonderful piece of news comes from the current CFO of EA, Blake Jorgensen. In a conference he was attending he stated that the reason why they didn’t focus on cosmetic gameplay features in their loot box system was because they didn’t want to mess up the Canon of Star Wars…
So this might possibly be the most insane excuse EA has come up with for this game, and that’s saying a lot. Stating that allowing you to change the colour of Darth Vader or being able to pick a different gun for the soldier you play as due to it not making sense in the Canon of the game universe defeats the point of the game itself. Star Wars Battlefront is all about putting yourself in the middle of an important battle in the series as whoever you want to be, Canon be damned. You can have Darth Vader fight against Darth Maul, who wouldn’t even be alive at the time that you are fighting that specific battle. Stating that canon is important to multiplayer games is a lie and if it even was true it would make playing these games a lot more boring as you would be stuck doing the same things as the literature tells you about rather than being able to explore and play the way you wish to.
So what do you all think about this excuse? Do you believe Canon has any place in a multiplayer game? Be sure to let us all know! That’s all for now, and as always. It’s not just a game, It’s a Life.
