It’s rare to see a game that ties together some of my favourite previous titles into one experience, but this very well may be one of those. Tabletop Tavern is an indie game recently released on Steam and to simplify it a bit it’s Rogue-like Total War crossed with Inscryption, and if that doesn’t get you excited then I don’t know what will.
You chart a course through an adventuring world as one of several armies with their own unique units and abilities and when you get into combat you play a very accurate simulation of a Total War battle with units, formations and lots and lots of people killing and dying. All under the backdrop of a tavern around you as people play and bet on your armies. It’s a genius idea, and really brings across the feeling of playing a Tabletop game in a public space. It’s also dirt cheap, and a really well made solo project, so I most certainly recommend you check it out on Steam right here.
That’s all for now, and as always. It’s not just a game, It’s a Life.
