The Ubisoft Downfall

Now that’s what we call bad financials…

Ubisoft recently announced that they were delaying their big up and coming pirate RPG game ‘Skull and Bones’ to April which didn’t come as a surprise to many as the game has been delayed so many times that it’s almost become a tradition to enjoy what new delay has been announced this time. However alongside this they also cancelled a bunch of other unannounced projects which after looking at their financials made it abundantly clear, Ubisoft are losing money.

Now this isn’t something that is unique to Ubisoft, the entire game’s industry has been in a fluctuating financial state ever since the AAA market became more about live services rather than games but Ubisoft in particular had underperforming games last year and as such the company is seemingly trying to save money wherever it can. To me this screams bad financial planning and poor management which considering all of the sexual misconduct allegations against the company would not surprise me at all sadly. Perhaps Ubisoft is on a slowly sinking ship now and it’s only a matter of time before CEO Yves Guillemot jumps ship and has the company bought out before escaping to retirement without facing any consequences, it’s a story we are all sadly too familiar with.

That’s all for now, and as always. It’s not just a game, It’s a Life.
