The Sonic Drain

The infamous version difference chart

I didn’t mention until now that a new Sonic game was announced, Sonic Origins, a remaster of the first 3 Sonic games and Sonic CD that aims to release on June 23rd this years. The reason I didn’t mention this is whilst I was excited at the prospect I found out that this abomination of a chart above here existed which showed the various version differences you could get for the game which had so many things cut out and thrown around that I thought this was just a money-making scheme which put me in a sad mood.

Despite all this however I thought it was important to also mention that Sega is seemingly also taking the original games off digital stores and thus only allowing you to buy this remastered version once it releases. This mirrors what happened with the GTA Remaster Trilogy and… well we all know how that turned out. Due to this there has been a massive outcry from fans about this, especially due to the fact that the original games are cheap right now whilst this new remaster will be priced as a new product making it far more expensive to buy. Personally all the hype I had for this game is lost and while I’m sure it will be an enjoyable experience as a game alone all of the money grabbing around it has really soured the mood. Such a shame as this could have been a slam dunk of a good opportunity, looks like companies never learn.

That’s all for now, and as always. It’s not just a game, It’s a Life.
