So as it turns out Playstation recently held their ‘State of Play’ event that showed off a bunch of Playstation exclusive titles that I completely missed somehow. There were quite a few interesting things shown such as gameplay of Final Fantasy 16 and the reveal of the Playstation exclusive Spiderman games coming to PC but the biggest announcement was what I wanted to discuss today, the fact that Resident Evil 4 is being remade.
As seems to be a trend from Capcom they are making their way through the Resident Evil catalogue to remake all of their old entries and as such after they finished with 3 it’s only natural they would move onto 4. The big difference however is that while the previous games were all completely changed in the gameplay department from their originals to the remakes the fourth entry is arguably the one that created this third-person focused Resident Evil trend and in fact is argued by many as being the most influential third-person shooter in history due to the amount of modern gameplay standards that were created from this game alone.
We didn’t see too much from the trailer however alongside seeing some familiar locations and the release date being confirmed for March 24th of next year we also saw some cutscenes and gameplay segments that weren’t present in the original. Perhaps this points to the story being expanded which is a risky move considering just how beloved the original RE4 is to fans. I suppose we will just have to wait and see, plus the announcement also told us that the game would be getting a PC release so that’s nice. Maybe Sony will finally realise the potential of releasing their games on PC… we can only hope.
That’s all for now, and as always. It’s not just a game, It’s a Life.
