The PC gaming market has recently been involved in a kind of arms race between the well established Steam and the new kid on the block, the Epic Games Store. On the developer side the EGS seems to be the better deal with a greater profit share and more of a chance to be seen as the marketplace is curated more heavily however it also has a huge lack of features that has led many people to not take the dive.
This appears to have become a massive problem lately and has been shown to a great extent with the release of Borderlands 3. Due to it being an EGS exclusive naturally people want to leave reviews about the game and notify developers about bugs or issues. However the problem is that the new storefront doesn’t actually have a reviews or forums section. As a result of this desperate players wanting to be heard are taking to the steam store and posting reviews and discussions on the previous games in the series so that the developers will actually take notice.
Now while this is a silly situation as Gearbox does indeed have a forum of it’s own to place feedback on the problem still remains that the EGS doesn’t give any indication of this and as a result people don’t feel as though their voice is being heard. Perhaps with this coming from such a high profile release however it will be the kick in the teeth to Epic so that they can get this very important (and quite frankly, expected for a storefront) feature to be implimented as quickly as possible. I wouldn’t hold my breath though.
That’s all for now, and as always. It’s not just a game, It’s a Life.
