Well that Smash Direct happened… it was certainly something.
First of all the big banner leak that everyone was talking about has turned out to be fake, instead we got two (technically three) newcomers to the game. The first being Ken from street fighter and the second being the Pokemon Incineroar. These fighters were what most people expected however the third new addition who was shown off as a piece of free, limited time DLC was completely out of the blue. A… Piranha Plant from the Mario series… WHAT!?
Aside from new characters they also showed off the new online features, the addition of a ‘Spirits’ system which acts like a badge mechanic giving your character certain powers and stats and finally a brand new Adventure mode which looks a bit like a smaller scale version of Brawl’s Subspace Emissary which I am extremely excited for. Many people were disappointed in the character choices but I for one am still excited for the game and especially for what new fighters they decide to give us as DLC. The hope for Geno is still here people.
