It seems Microsoft is falling behind it’s competitors again unfortunately as they have announced that after 4 years of usage their streaming platform that was meant to rival Twitch and Youtube, Mixer, is being shut down in a month and all relevant partners ill be moved to Facebook Gaming instead.
This comes after many years of the service generally lagging behind other streaming sites and failing to really pull in the views necessary to keep up. This is surprising as even big names in the streaming industry such as Ninja were contracted to Mixer but I guess even when you have big names your brand can still fail.
Now while I knew of Mixer I have never heard of Facebook Gaming so it’s more than likely that most streamers will return to Twitch but time will tell I suppose. Microsoft encouraged all users of the service to spend their currency on streamers right now before the service shuts down for good and that streamers will earn double their usual rate from these ‘Embers’ and ‘Sparks’. Sad to see another competitor go but then again if I wanted to watch streams I went to Twitch anyway.
That’s all for now, and as always. It’s not just a game, It’s a Life.
