Games based on Historical events rarely catch my interest but one recently has me intrigued at how it will play out. Warsaw, a tactical game with RPG elements that is heavily based on Darkest Dungeon is set during the Warsaw Uprising of 1944 which was a significant event during World War 2 that saw the underground Polish resistance fight against the occupying Germans to get them out of their capital city.
The game itself is being developed by ‘Pixelated Milk’ who have previously worked on an indie homage to Final Fantasy Tactics known as Regalia: Of Men and Monarchs. This game looks suitably dark and depressing considering the subject matter and will apparently consist of base building and strategic movements of your resistance groups while also having turn based traditional RPG battles similarly to Darkest Dungeon on the streets when facing off against the Nazis.
The real life event this game is inspired by ultimately failed so I am very intrigued to see how this game conveys this and ultimately if you can even win. This is certainly one to look out for when it comes out on September 4th. That’s all for now, and as always. It’s not just a game, It’s a Life.
