The Activision-Blizzard Lawsuit

Truly repulsive

(As a quick note, apologies if you haven’t been seeing these posts. The site has been experiencing some outage problems recently and I’m looking into it, hopefully these posts will still be here by the time things get fixed!)

It’s been a turbulent week for Activision-Blizzard as a The California Department of Fair Employment and Housing has filed a full lawsuit against the company for alleged sexual harassment and assault claims. Various women all across the company have claimed multiple allegations against the gaming company and state that particular higher-ups and male co-workers would make derogatory statements against and relentlessly attempt to hit on female employees and this has even escalated to full on groping and assaults at various parties and events hosted by the company.

The suit also claims that women are frequently given lesser jobs and/or are payed less then male workers with particular note against those of colour who are apparently given even worse treatment. All of this comes after two years of investigations and stories from female employees with particular note to an staff member who committed suicide allegedly due to the harassment and embarrassment that they faced while working at the company, truly awful.

Activision-Blizzard have released numerous confusing statements with some claiming that these allegations are nonsense while others are condemning these actions within the company creating a very mixed message as to whether the higher ups actually know what happened and are keeping it silent or they just haven’t communicated properly as to what their corporate strategy is. Either way it’s utterly appalling that something like this has happened and I for one am looking forward to seeing how this will be handled in a court of law.

That’s all for now, and as always. It’s not just a game, It’s a Life.
