That’s Unreal!

It’s a sad state of affairs to see but Epic Games have decided to take a bunch of their older online-focused games offline, including many of the Unreal Tournament games which were a staple of the older shooter genre. They claimed that this of course to allow for them to focus their efforts on current and future projects (meaning Fortnite of course) and it was indeed inevitable but it is still a sad announcement to see.

However it’s not all bad. Players will still be able to set up dedicated servers and so for those who really want to still play the multiplayer it will still technically be possible, if not a bit more challenging. Alongside that there are well founded rumours that they are updating Unreal Tournament 3, the most popular one, to become free to play and playable across multiple platforms. This would be nice to see and would allow for more people to play these older titles and enjoy the fun that they represented before live service games were ever a thing. If you’re an Unreal Tournament fan, I hope you enjoy trying out people’s customer servers and hopefully this rumour does turn out to be true.

That’s all for now, and as always. It’s not just a game, It’s a Life.
