Multiplayer in Bethesda games sounds like a terrible nightmare after recent events however modders are seemingly taking the steps to make a better experience than even the company itself cannot accomplish.
Skyrim Together is a multiplayer mod for the fantasy RPG which aims not to provide an MMO environment but instead a co-op experience with up to eight players. I mention this project now as it recently just went into closed beta which is a huge step in the right direction. It has dedicated servers, a brand new UI for inviting friends and joining online games and has almost everything intact from the normal Skyrim aside from dropping items for other players. This looks extremely promising and I am excited to see if this gets fully released and supported over the years. 76 eat your heart out.
