I must admit I chuckled greatly when I heard about the premise of Warner Bro’s latest game to come out later this year, MultiVersus. It’s essentially a Smash Bros clone but with characters owned by Warner but surprisingly this means that the roster is actually rather diverse and has strange choices like Bugs Bunny, Wonder Woman and even The Iron Giant! (Totally maining my favourite giant robot by the way)
The game doesn’t have an official release date yet however it’s set to come out later this year and is actually releasing as a free-to-play game which will no doubt bring a lot of attention to it. While they haven’t revealed what microtransactions will be in the game yet there is seemingly a huge variety of cosmetics so my best guess would be on it being a purely cosmetic-based currency system however we will just have to wait and see. As for the gameplay it’s obviously a lot like Smash however it apparently has a much larger emphasis on team-fights so 2v2 seems to be the standard format which is a very big difference from other fighting games. I’m at least intrigued and the fact it’s free to play means I’ll definitely be checking it out. Who knows, despite the ridiculous concept it may turn out to be a ‘Smash’ hit! I’ll see myself out…
