If you remember not that long ago I covered the fact that the studio head of Lab Zero (Creators of Skullgirls and Indivisible), Mike Zaimont, was accused of multiple accounts of sexual harrasment and inappropriate comments against both studio members and those attending fighting game tournaments which led to the board asking for him to resign from the studio. Well as it turns out, it didn’t exactly go down like that…
After multiple team members left the company following Mike’s refusal to leave it seems as though the demented studio head decided that he didn’t need a board of directors anymore… or a studio. He dissolved the board and took full control of the company as the sole CEO and as such many employees decided enough was enough and left the company too. Following this the few people who were actually left have been personally fired by Mike and the future of Lab Zero has been left unknown. Talk about firing yourself like a torpedo straight into the ground.
Luckily for those who love the Skullgirls game series and don’t want the death of the studio to mean the end of the games the rights to the popular fighting games are held by their publishing company, Autumn Games, and they released a statement saying that they plan to work with the many developers and artists who left Lab Zero to make new Skullgirls content which means it seems as though the series will continue despite the original studio consisting of one lonely man.
I find this all rather funny as it seems as though Mike just couldn’t take repsonsibility for his actions and would rather his whole studio burned tok the ground than face consequences, talk about personal issues eh? Anyway, that’s all for now, and as always. It’s not just a game, It’s a Life.
