Bungie are only really known for Destiny these days, and before then they were the Halo team. But way back in the day they were most well known for Marathon, a series of classic first person shooters that have fallen into relative obscurity in modern times. Now however, with the release of a fully working and updated version of Marathon: Infinity on Steam thanks to the work of many fans the entire Marathon trilogy is available to play on modern machines once more.
And it really is thanks to the fans, as they have been doing an excellent job porting all of this into a custom engine over the past couple of years to get these games playable, all wuth the blessing of the Bungie team. It’s nice to see a company support large fan team efforts rather than handing them cease and desist letters like in most circumstances, so good on them for that! So if you want to play some classic FPS titles made by people that knew what they were doing then check out each title of the trilogy on Steam for free, you won’t regret it!
