Ubisoft recently released a remaster of the most beloved member of the Assassin’s Creed games, Black Flag, which was the pirate-centered one with lots of ship combat and swashbuckling. Solid idea, and a game many seem to enjoy, but it seems as though Ubisoft just couldn’t help themselves and so alongside the release of the game included a bunch of Microtransactions into the game, including the ability to pay to unlock all of the maps in the game, something you usually have to complete side objectives to do so.
Something similar to this happened with the Modern Warfare Remaster and it was as much of a bad idea then as it is now. Now the game sits at a ‘Mixed’ review rating and people are up in arms about this, as they should be. Seemingly it’s not just enough to re-release a good game, you also need to taint the memory by including useless micropayments that nobody asked for. I just hope this gets the message out to the publishers, though let’s be honest, this is the modern AAA Gaming Industry, they don’t care.
That’s all for now, and as always. It’s not just a game, It’s a Life.
