Am I the only one who thinks she looks like a cheerleader?

Charity events in gaming is nothing new. As the medium of gaming continues to increase in popularity the potential good that can be achieved by those who are invested in it also tends to increase. Overwatch recently revealed a brand new skin for the hero Mercy (seen above) and that you can obtain the skin by paying money that will be donated to a charity that focuses upon breast cancer research.

Ultimately this is a nice gesture, especially for such a big company like Blizzard however the big problem I see from this is simply cornering their audience. It’s no secret that people tend to donate more when there is an incentive for them and thus while this Mercy skin may seem like a good incentive you’re lessening your audience to those who play (or like the look of) Mercy and even then at the steep price of £15 you’re making it difficult for those with lower incomes to justify ultimately donating that amount of money for an in-game skin.

Again just reiterating I think this is still a good cause it’s just that I feel it could have been done in a slightly better way. What do you all think about this situation? Feel free to share your opinions in the comments! That’s all for now, and as always. It’s not just a game, It’s a Life.
