While The Witcher 3 is still considered by many to be one of the greatest RPG’s of all time it has not yet had a full upgrade for modern consoles as many other big titles from the previous generation have. CD Projekt Red did confirm a while back that an upgrade was in the works but ever since that announcement it was radio silence from the company.
Well as it turns out it seems as though that upgrade may never actually come as the company announced recently that the planned console upgrade was being delayed “until further notice” which most likely means it’s never coming. Shame as the game even released on previous generation consoles looks gorgeous and most of the issues it faces were technical ones that the upgrade could have fixed. I suppose it just makes the PC version even more superior compared to consoles but you knew that already. The reason as to why the upgrade has been postponed has not been confirmed however most are speculating that the internal issues faced by the company after the disaster of Cyberpunk 2077 may have a part in it. I’ll be interested to see if this upgrade does eventually come, hilariously it may be when the new consoles are nearing the end of their life cycle. Such is the way of incompetent game developers I suppose.
